Road Maintenance Worker Job Description     

Job Title:           Road Maintenance Worker     Supervisor:              Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent

Wage & FLSA Status:  Hourly Non-Exempt     Department Classification: Shop Union – United Steel Workers

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent, performs duties including but not limited to summer/winter maintenance on all County and State roads.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Tree cutting/clean up.

Mowing.

Patching.

Maintain and service trucks and equipment.

Grading.

Snow plowing.

Operating equipment.

Guardrail and sign repair.

Restoration.

Culvert maintenance.

And other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must have and maintain a clean driving record and current Medical card.

Ability to pass a drug test. Employees are subject to random drug testing.

Current Class B CDL, with airbrakes, with no restrictions, and the ability to acquire a Class A, with airbrakes within a specified time frame.

Must be able to lift 80 lbs.

Hours can include nights, weekends, holidays and over-time.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent educational preparation.
