SUMMER SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT

Annually, the Genesee County Road Commission (GCRC) of Flint, MI, offers seasonal work opportunities from May through August and are not members of the bargaining unit, positions are at various work locations throughout Genesee County.  The work assignments support GCRC’s general road maintenance and/or construction projects.  The work duties include, but are not limited to:

• Pothole patching and shoveling
• Survey rodman/laborer and construction inspection assistant
• Flagging for traffic control
• General road maintenance labor
• Roadside clean-up and hauling brush
• General cleaning and lawn maintenance

Working in extremely hot weather conditions, applicants must be able to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs., while climbing/walking on uneven terrain.  Must have reliable transportation, be able to work as a team member, and follow instructions.  All applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of completing the GCRC application, possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License, and provide proof of college enrollment as a full-time student for the 2026 fall semester.  The pay rate is $15.00 per hour, working forty (40) hours per week, Monday-Thursday.
