Director of Maintenance

Lapeer County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Maintenance. The Director of Maintenance provides leadership and direction to the Road Maintenance and Shop Foremen. This position directs the daily maintenance and construction activities on county and state roads and bridges; oversees maintenance of the Commission’s fleet, facilities and grounds; ensures safety and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; participates in budget preparations and labor negotiations; prepares reports and makes recommendations to the Managing Director.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Business or Public Administration. Prior related experience may be substituted.
• 7 years’ experience in road maintenance and/or construction, with 3 years supervisory experience.
• Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with members of the public, local officials, and employees at all levels.
• Ability to prepare and maintain records, correspondence and analytical reports.
• Maintain a valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Certifications in Soil Erosion and Sediment Control and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) inspection standards.

Salary: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00
